Once I arrive at my hotel, how do I get my car?

Customers who are renting vehicles from our office will need to phone the individual office where they have reserved a car and arrange a pickup time after they have arrived at their hotel. Our office offers complimentary pickup service between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturdays

Why are your rates so low?
|

We can keep our rates low for several reasons. First, we don't have a multimillion dollar advertising campaign like the big companies do. Neither do we have a large team of attorneys on retainer or a collection department that we have to pay to collect from customers who were not exactly truthful when it came to disclosing their insurance situation. We make sure that our customers show valid proof of insurance before they rent a car, thus avoiding the later collection and legal fees that happen frequently after an uninsured or underinsured customer gets into an accident.
We have taken painstaking efforts to disclose all of our company's policies so that there are no surprises at the rental counter. Some of the "lower priced" companies in the area believe that the less they tell you, the better the chance that you will reserve a car with them. If you find a better deal on a car rental, be very careful! Many companies prefer to hide their rental policies behind general company policies with a disclaimer that states something like "call the local office for full details." Chances are, when you get to the rental counter at another agency you will have to pay more or, sometimes the reservation isn't honored. |

What credit cards do you accept?

We accept for payment and deposit Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover and Diner's Club credit cards.
We do not accept credit cards as proof of insurance because they are not primary coverage insurance and do not carry liability insurance on them. |

Can I use someone else's credit card?

Unfortunately, the "bad people" of the world have messed this up for everyone. The credit card must be present at the time of rental and the credit card holder must sign and and be listed on the rental contract as an authorized driver.

I have a Visa/Mastercard Check Card. Is it okay to rent with it?

Unfortunately, the commercials on television have made people believe that a Visa check card works exactly the same as a regular credit card. This is simply not the case. Once again the "bad people" of the world have messed up a good thing by figuring out how to manipulate the system so that they end up leaving outstanding balances at the end of the rental. Because of this, most car rental companies no longer accept Visa Check Cards for rentals.
Showroom Shine Rentals does accept Visa/Mastercard Check Cards. Local residents or military personnel who are renting with a check card are only required to show proof of insurance coverage..

Can anyone drive the car?

Up to two additional drivers may be listed on a contract as authorized drivers of a vehicle. No other persons other than those listed on the rental contract are legally permitted to drive a rental vehicle. If an accident occurs while an unauthorized person is driving, no insurance in the world is going to save the authorized driver(s) on the rental contract from having to pay for the full damages out of their own pocket.
A $50 surcharge or $4.99 per day, per driver surcharge (whichever is more) will be assessed to rental contracts where it is found that an unauthorized driver has driven the vehicle. |

Is it unlimited mileage?

We provide unlimited mileage within the state of Wisconsin, Minnesota, U.P. Michigan, Iowa, and northern Illinois to individuals who pay with a major credit card. Northern Illinois would include north of Peoria. Customers paying with a check card, debit card or cash are given 150 free miles per day. Any additional miles driven outside of the above-mentioned areas, will be charged at the rate of 20 cents per mile over the 150 free miles per day, for the duration of the rental. |

| Do I need to purchase your insurance? |

No. If you have your own full coverage insurance on a late model vehicle from one of the major insurance companies, they may very welll cover our rental car. In this case, only you and your insurance agent can determine what is in your best interests. We now offer a company insurance option through Access America, (Please refer to ACCAM# F033025 when placing your order.) but you must show proof of full coverage insurance that will cover our vehicle at the time of rental. Please see the FAQ "What type of insurance coverage do you offer?" to see if your insurance needs are being met and why some "fully insured" drivers always take the rental car company's coverage or show a valid credit card (not a debit card) that provides coverage for this type of option. Contact your bank for full benefit information of your credit card.
Most credit card insurances will not cover any pick-up trucks rental. Please consult your bank for full coverage of your banks, and be ready proof that your insurance or credit card covers pick-up rental.
We do accept credit cards as proof of insurance if they are a card that carries primary coverage insurance but you are responsible for any liability. |

| Why do I need to bring proof of Insurance? |

Proper evidence of insurance coverage is necessary to be presented at the rental counter due to State law requirements.
To help reduce costs, and ultimately to keep the rates that are charged to our customers as low as possible, we require our customers to provide proof of insurance so that we know our assets (and third parties) are protected. Some companies, who invariably charge higher rates, pass the price of their high-priced lawyers and collection agencies down to each and every customer who rents a car. Most customers have no problem providing proof of full coverage insurance if they know ahead of time that they need to, and that it is ultimately saving them money by doing so. Also, it is against the law to operate a vehicle in the state of Wisconsin without possessing proof of insurance. Those customers who fail to provide proof of full coverage insurance will not be able to ren a vehicle from us.

Do you offer AAA?

If you were to call one of our offices looking for a car while you were visiting here in Wisconsin, you would find that yes, we do provide discounts to AAA members. These 10% discounts are off of the prevailing standard rate that is being offered at that time. I'm afraid the rates don't get any lower than this! |

May I drop off a car in another city?

For the most part, the answer to this quetion is "no." For rentals that are at least one week in length, we make exceptions to this rule, but charge a drop fee of $150 to LaCrosse, Wisconsin only. |

What happens if there is an accident?

| |
In the unfortunate event of an accident, please get a police report. Most insurance companies now require you to do so. You are required to get a police report or all coverages will be considered null and void per the rental agreement.
All customers involved in an accident are also required to notify Showroom Shine Rentals as soon as possible and will need to fill out a Showroom Shine Rentals accident report.
Showroom Shine Rentals reserves the right to refuse to provide another rental car to any individual involved in an accident, regardless of fault. |

Do you have non-smoking vehicles?

All of our vehicles are non-smoking vehicles. Any customer who smokes or lets one of their passengers smoke in a vehicle they have rented from us is subject to a smoking cleanup fee of at least $35.00, which will be assessed to your credit card. |
